Lukas McNally is a German-Australian composer and musician based at Funkhaus Berlin.
His work spans film, television, documentary, theatre, choral and contemporary music – drawing on a background that moves between screen composition,
experimental music, jazz, popular music and years of live performance.
His screen work includes documentaries such as Made to Measure, as well as fictional films like for the German TV Classic Tatort – Die dritte Haut.
His film scores for various international indie productions have found recognition on festivals worldwide. He previously worked as the music assistant to composer
Ali N. Askin on productions including Netflix’s Barbarians and Moonbound, which was nominated for Best Original Score by the German Film Academy.
As a musician, McNally toured for a decade with Ton Steine Scherben and has collaborated with numerous musicians and artists of a wide range including
Gustavo Bertoni, DJ Koas, Andrew Unruh (Einstürzende Neubauten) and Wolfgang Tillmans.
He is currently working on a ten-part documentary series that is in the final stages of post-production.
